Open Call Up North | For young Northern hip-hop culture makers

Are you an artist from Groningen, Drenthe, or Friesland and do you want to develop yourself as a maker and make a production, then Up North is curious about your ideas.

Up North is a project in which young northern culture makers can experiment in hip-hop and pop culture and develop their talents. This concerns various art forms, such as music, dance, poetry, spoken word, design, photography, film, multimedia, design, fashion, and theater. We are mainly looking for ideas with an interdisciplinary approach.

Submit your plans by March 6, 2021

Promising concepts are selected from the ideas and plans submitted. Applicants will be invited for a pitch on Sunday afternoon, March 14, 2021, in Simplon (or in a ZOOM meeting). That afternoon they will talk to you about your plans. Afterward, we select at least one idea per province. Four selected makers may then put together a professional team of employees and supervisor (s) with whom they can realize their idea, in collaboration with the Popfabryk (Friesland), Urban House Groningen (Groningen), and Stichting Kunst & Cultuur (Drenthe). The making process starts on April 1. After a production period of 1 to a maximum of 3 months, the intention is to present the production on multiple stages in 2021.
