Which object will you choose?

Elastic Habitat is like a playground. It presents a world that you can walk, crawl or roll around in. Designers and performance artists Helena Dietrich and Janneke Raaphorst made sculptures from textile, that you can touch, that you can move around in and that you can wear. You can literally get under the skin of one of these imaginary creatures, and be someone or something else for a while.

Jonge Harten presents theatre makers who aren’t just good, but often young and unknown.

That is why there is a viewing guide to help you make a fitting choice from our extensive programme.

But pay mind: the viewing guide doesn’t deal in absolute truths. It doesn’t say that a performance is funny. Because how you experience a performance is a subjective thing and what you find funny, someone else might find tragic. That’s (and maybe also to safeguard ourselves a little bit) why you should take the viewing guide with a pinch of salt and use the viewing guide to get an idea of what possible effects the performance may have on you. We have identified four of these effects and each performance is marked with the icon of the effect we think will be the most fitting. And sometimes a second, as a side-effect.

People will say they ‘watch’ theatre, but what about our other senses? Is watching all we do? What do you feel, smell or hear? We’d like to know. What happens if you fool around with your senses? What happens if you switch a number of senses off, or if you intensify others? Performances filed under  #thesensorial will awaken your senses! They will encourage you to experience the world in a different way. Which sense will you start off with?

Theatre isn’t always ‘fun’ (although our programme always includes a number of ‘fun’ shows), but all our shows offer food for thought. Our performances might make you feel uncomfortable, as they reflect the world in all its different shades. We challenge you to form your own personal view of the world. For us, taboo topics are the new mainstream. We would like to know what you think about certain topics that we believe are very important. This doesn’t always lead to an uncomplicated conversation, but we might get to get to know each other better afterwards. These shows are indicated by #thesocial.
