    Disarmament Need Ontwapening Role model

JONGEN (formerly BOY) tells the true story of the Reimer family.

Twin babies Brian and Bruce are circumcised in 1966. But this simple operation goes completely wrong for Bruce. After talking to many doctors, Bruce’s parents make a big decision: they let him turn into a girl. Bruce becomes Brenda. For years, the parents hide this story from Brenda. But at a young age she senses that something is not right…

Theater creator Carly Wijs and de Roovers made an adaptation of this story for Teateri in Jönköping, Sweden. Now hetpaleis is showing the Dutch version with Vanja Maria Godée and Jeroen Van der Ven.

JONGE HARTEN VIEWING GUIDE

Jonge Harten offers a diverse program. But where do you start choosing? To clarify things somewhat, we have three main storylines that we are focusing on this year. You can see these lines throughout our program. So that you can easily choose which line suits you best and what you feel like doing at the moment. What are you going for?

Disarmament

The theme of Jonge Harten 2022 is disarmament. War, conflict, climate crisis and an insatiable appetite for growth make the world an increasingly unsafe place. We hear stories about fear of weapons and violence and the fear of daring to be vulnerable. So there are quite a few challenges in 'our time'. Who has the answers and solutions? We do! Are we going to defend ourselves or do we accept the situation we find ourselves in? And are we going to adapt to the inescapable reality that things have to change? Let's choose our battles! With this edition of Jonge Harten we challenge you to focus on what is really valuable and necessary to you. It is up to you, how you do this.

FIELD

FIELD was created to strengthen the bond with young talent and to give both the artists and the festival the opportunity to support people in the longer term and to make their “dreams” come true. We focus in particular on students who we feel (after conversations and performances) connect themselves as creators with the world beyond. In a conscious, critical and idiosyncratic way.

Future

No matter what: the future lies ahead of us. And we can influence what our future will be like. What is it you hope for the future? How do you contribute to this? And how do you relate to the future? Will we continue in the way we used to, when we leave the pandemic behind us, or will we radically change our behaviour?

Need

It’s important that our imagination makes it to the stage, especially now. It’s time to start thinking about how we want to continue after the pandemic, what we want to change and how we want to recover. How are we actually doing? And how are you doing? What is it we want to tell the world? And what does the world want to tell us? Which topics should be on the agenda?

Role model

Who are you a role model for? And how do you want to communicate that? Who are your role models? Which voices do you think should be heard more? Let our (theatre) makers guide you to find your voice and let it be heard. Let them be a role model for you during our festival and be inspired.

STAGE

A program line in which we put creative young people on stage and in which you can participate in great masterclasses yourself. We ensure that you are pampered all day long and of course we close the day with a great party, by none other than Clash!

Vermeld de titel van de voorstelling en waar je graag meer duidelijkheid over wilt hebben (is dit iets om met mijn vriend/vriendin naartoe te gaan? het is misschien wel grappig maar toch niet vulgair? dat soort vragen). De programmeurs van het festival geven je dan persoonlijk het verlossende antwoord!
