Noordstaat Cypher Session

A special Cypher Session by Noordstaat with an in-house live band! Artists are given the opportunity to experiment with spoken word, dance and music, accompanied by live instruments. The Festival Heart becomes a creative playground where creators inspire each other, collaborate and dare to try new things.

The band consists of four talented Noordstaat participants: Mias (guitar), Filip Mozetič (drums), Daví (multi-instrumentalist & producer) and Shanti Raya (bass & beats). Together, they provide dynamic accompaniment for artists during the Cypher Session at Jonge Harten, and they have previously performed at Blockjam Noordstaat, Re:Sources and other Cypher Sessions.

  • Mias finds his musical roots in jazz and studies at the conservatory in Groningen. Known from Steebs’ Method, he showcases his versatility and sense of groove, with a warm sound inspired by George Benson.
  • Filip Mozetič is a Slovenian drummer, composer and interdisciplinary artist. His jazz background and improvisational skills bring spontaneity and emotion to every performance. He plays in various bands, including Fi!Da?, MAYA MARIA, Agnst The Wrld and Tu Tu Tu Orchestra.
  • Daví is an up-and-coming producer and multi-instrumentalist from Groningen. With influences from hip hop, soul and jazz, he develops a fresh, organic sound. He has collaborated with rapper Dylamic, performed at ESNS 2023 and Noorderzon, and is currently working on his debut as a solo artist and the album “Hiatus”.
  • Shanti Raya started with beats and integrated guitar and keyboard, but quickly developed his own bass lines. Inspired by funk, hip hop and neo-soul legends such as Pino Paladino and Thundercat, he creates laid-back grooves and strong melodic bass lines.

The Cypher Session at Jonge Harten offers a unique opportunity for creators to play live, experiment and develop their skills under the guidance of the Noordstaat in-house live band.

FIELD was created to strengthen the bond with young talent and to give both the artists and the festival the opportunity to support people in the longer term and to make their “dreams” come true. We focus in particular on students who we feel (after conversations and performances) connect themselves as creators with the world beyond. In a conscious, critical and idiosyncratic way.

Vermeld de titel van de voorstelling en waar je graag meer duidelijkheid over wilt hebben (is dit iets om met mijn vriend/vriendin naartoe te gaan? het is misschien wel grappig maar toch niet vulgair? dat soort vragen). De programmeurs van het festival geven je dan persoonlijk het verlossende antwoord!
