On the edge of tomorrow

This is not a performance you just watch; this is an experience in which your voice counts. Between dance, spoken word, quizzes and collective statements, a collage of moments and fighters unfolds. Harriet Tubman, Greta Thunberg, Hannie Schaft, Sophie Straat, they pass by like echoes of resistance, reflected in the voices of today.

Collectief Kompaan (Vera Wielhouwer and Tristan Stäbler) developed this interactive performance about resistance together with a young performer, Sem. In two days, the three of them developed a raw, musical and playful quest to discover what it means to take a stand.

On Saturday 22 November, eight more young performers from the North will join Collectief Kompaan to continue their exploration of resistance. That same evening, they and Sem will present the performance, and the nine young voices will take you on a journey through this universal theme.

FIELD was created to strengthen the bond with young talent and to give both the artists and the festival the opportunity to support people in the longer term and to make their “dreams” come true. We focus in particular on students who we feel (after conversations and performances) connect themselves as creators with the world beyond. In a conscious, critical and idiosyncratic way.
