Every centimetre and every second counts
BEYOND is a dynamic, exhilarating and, at the same time, poetic circus and dance performance that explores, challenges and ultimately transcends our limits. Choreographer Piet Van Dycke works with six professional performers, each specialising in a different discipline (ladder climbing, acrodance, acrobike, partner acrobatics and (pole) dance). On stage, they transform into boundless bridge-builders.
Using ladders of varying sizes and heights, the performers build impressive structures, such as arched sculptures and rotating cranes. They balance the ladders to create a thrilling, precarious playing field. They explore uncharted heights, climbing, soaring and venturing into daring choreography. Every centimetre and every second counts. They push themselves to the limits and discover just how far they can push one another. Physical interdependence has never been so thrilling. BEYOND is about the vulnerability, the absurdity, but also the power of our limits, and how we can push them further by working together. Together, we dance on the collective ladders of the human imagination.
