Diptych: The missing door and The lost room
Brussels-based Peeping Tom creates performances in which dance, illusionism, cinematic suspense, humor and sound merge into a fascinating, often surrealistic whole.
In Diptych, the characters are searching and wandering, lost in time and space.
The missing door
The missing door (2013) is set in a parlor or hallway full of doors that do not open. The hallucination permeated by memories of adultery and bloodshed evokes associations with the cinematic language of David Lynch.
The lost room
The lost room (2015) consists of a labyrinth of rooms and corridors, in which multiple enigmatic stories are told simultaneously. The lost room was awarded the 2016 Swan for most impressive dance performance. The jury called it “a magically realistic, surreal and hauntingly absurd work.”
Diptych consists of reworkings of two successful pieces Gabriela Carrizo and Franck Chartier previously created for Nederlands Dans Theater.
