An absurd show full of breakdancing, comedy, stunts and spectacle.
Breakdance collective 155 (yes, the ones from Gouden Krekel winner CONTROLE) is back with JOHNNY – a show that will make your cynical millennial heart beat faster.
In it, five stuntmen with balls of steel (and perhaps a little brain damage) await their big moment in an action film. But between the backflips, falls and bursts of laughter, the question arises: How many blows do you have to take to prove you’re not a pussy? How do you stay true to yourself when you’re always in someone else’s shadow? And more importantly: What good is a perfectly executed stunt when you’ve been dumped by your ex?
In a world of filters and façades, 155 brings you a show that is real. For everyone who grew up with MTV but now discusses gentrification. For those who like to give conventions the middle finger. For those who love culture that doesn’t tolerate bullshit.
Think of a mash-up of Jackass, Buster Keaton and Jackie Chan. Bring your partner, friends or that colleague who has never been to the theatre before – this is culture without pretension.
“Think Jiskefet, think Jackass, think Maaskantje and think breakdance. Or is it mime, comedy, contemporary dance? Breakdance collective 155 is all of these things, and none of them. “If we have to laugh really hard at it ourselves, then it’s good.” – NRC Handelsblad
